Service Description
The Introduction to Mantrailing session is designed for dog owners interested in learning the foundations of this exciting scent-based activity. In this session, you and your dog will: - Learn the basics of mantrailing and how it differs from other scent work activities - Understand the science behind how dogs use their noses to follow human scent trails - Receive an overview of the equipment used in mantrailing - Participate in practical exercises to introduce your dog to the concept of trailing a hidden person - Get tips on reading your dog’s body language and developing effective handler skills - Discover how mantrailing can be a fun enrichment activity for dogs of all ages and abilities What to Bring: - To ensure a safe and productive session, please bring the following: - A well-fitted harness for your dog (no correction collars or slip leads) - A long training lead (6–10 metres preferred) - Plenty of high-value treats (soft, smelly treats work best) - Your dog’s favourite toy (optional, but helpful for motivation) - Poo bags and water for your dog - Weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear for yourself (sessions are held outdoors) - Notebook and pen if you’d like to take notes Note: - Please let me know in advance if your dog has any behavioural concerns so we can accommodate their needs. - Only one dog is worked at a time, so please have a way to safely contain your dog while it is resting and you are trail laying for another team. - No dogs are to be off lead at any time.
